National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution
National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, was organized on April 30, 1889 -- the 100th
anniversary of the inauguration of George Washington as our nation's first President.
The SAR was conceived as a fraternal and civic society composed of lineal descendants of the men who
wintered at Valley Forge, signed the Declaration of Independence, fought in the battles of the American
Revolution, served in the Continental Congress, or otherwise supported the cause of American
Independence.
National Society Sons of the American Revolution is located at 1000 South Fourth Street, Louisville,
Kentucky, 40203-3208.
National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution
The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political
volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American
history, and securing America's future through better education for children. The National Society
of the Daughters of the American Revolution is located at 1776 D NW Street, Washington, D.C.
20006.
National Society of the Children of the American Revolution
The National Society of the Children of the American Revolution, founded in 1895, is the oldest patriotic
organization for youths in our country. Membership is open to descendants of patriots of the American
Revolution. The age range is birth to twenty-one. Meetings and activities are planned for all ages with special
consideration given to younger members.
Florida Society of the Sons of the American Revolution
The Florida Society of the Sons of the American Revolution is one of 58 similar societies which comprise the
National Society Sons of the American Revolution. Florida Society is a not-for-profit 501.c.(3) corporation
organized and existing under the laws of the State of Florida under the terms of a Certificate of Incorporation
issued on March 9, 1972 by the Secretary of State of the State of Florida. The FLSSAR is organized into
chapters, to each of which the FLSSAR has issued a charter that assigns to it the exclusive local jurisdiction
over a designated territory. The state is also divided into geo¬graphic regions, the boundaries of which are
designated by the BOM, and usually so drawn that each encompasses several chapters.
Florida Society of the S. A. R. Ladies Auxilary
The objectives of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Florida Society of the Sons of the American Revolution shall be
in common with those of the Florida Society of the SAR. "…declared to be patriotic, historical, and
educational, and shall include those intended or designed to perpetuate the memory of the men who, by their
services or sacrifices during the war of the American Revolution, achieved the independence of the American
people." They are directed to support the Society by furthering the goals and activities of the SAR, by
encouraging membership and by raising funds to support the Society's objectives.
